All
BInfoTech students must satisfactorily complete two 8 week
periods of approved Industry Placement before they can graduate. This
registration
form MUST be submitted BEFORE
the
commencement of the placement session.

The
Industry Placement is assessed in the form of a written assignment
and is normally undertaken in the summer sessions
at the end of second
and third year. In exceptional circumstances, where a student has
proven substantial work Industry placement in a relevant
industry (details below) a report must
still be completed.

The Industry Placement Co-ordinator is
Sonia Jennings, who is
located in 3.227.

and contains details which may be needed by employers.
Fail/Pass/Credit/Distinction
and High Distinction grades are NOT given for these subjects,
NOR will
marks be allocated. You will receive a grade of either Satisfactory
(S) or Unsatisfactory (U). The reports are not usually returned,
so please
make sure you do not provide originals (eg of references). Furthermore,
these subjects do not count in the calculation of weighted average
marks.
Your
reports will be assessed by
Valerie Baker in 3.220. Report requirements are on the WebCT Vista
BInfoTech - Industry Placement site. You will be given access
to this site once you have submitted your registration form.
Before
commencing work, students must submit the
registration form to
Sonia Jennings for approval of placement organization.
The
completion of each Industry Placement requires that you:

work, at least, half-time (min of 17.5 hours) for
8 weeks, (NB this does not equate to 4 weeks full-time);

satisfactorily complete
the report
and submit it on time .
